About My Portraits
A portrait of your pet makes a special and unique addition to your home. Each is an original creation, which will bring fond memories of much loved animals for many years to come. Portraits make ideal gifts for Christmas, Birthdays or any special occasion. What better present could there be for the person who has everything!
I have been drawing and painting animal portraits for over 30 years, and have hundreds of delighted clients across the United Kingdom and abroad. I am an avid animal lover, and this gives me an especially keen interest in my work.
I specialise in Pastels, but I also undertake commissions in a variety of other media, such as Oils, Pencils, Coloured Pencils, Watercolours and Acrylics. There are various examples of each in the Galleries. Each medium has its own character and properties. Oils are more expensive than other media because of the length of time involved in painting them. I do not usually include a background into my portraits, but if this is something you would like, then I can incorporate a background of your choice. This would be reflected in the price. I can paint just a head study of one animal or a full portrait, or I can include two or more animals on one portrait. Again this would be reflected in the price.
All I need to produce a beautiful portrait is a good clear copy of your favourite photo. Other reference photos are always helpful. The photo’s that you send me are extremely important, they must be close up, clear, in sharp focus and well posed. My portraits are highly detailed and I need to be able to see that detail in your photographs. The quality of your photos, will have an effect on the quality and detail of your portrait. Sadly, sometimes there may be situations when you do not have the opportunity to take any further photo’s. In these cases, I will gladly look at what photographs you have and advise you accordingly.
Portraits can be supplied framed, framed and mounted, or unframed. I prefer to send Pastel portraits framed, as they will not smudge once safely under glass. If I send them unframed I must spray them with fixative, which I find dulls the colours slightly. I am happy to send Portraits in other media unframed. All portraits are sent in protective wrapping and by insured post. More detailed information on Framing, Sizes and Photographs will be found on the Ordering Page.
When you order a portrait, I ask that you send a deposit of 50% of the value with your order. If you are not completely satisfied with the completed portrait, your deposit will be refunded, minus 10% to cover costs incurred.
When your portrait is completed, I will send or email you a photograph of the finished work, together with my invoice. I want you to be 100% satisfied with your portrait, so if there is anything at any time that you would like me to change, just let me know, and I will happily change it for you. When you are happy with the picture, send me payment, and your portrait will be sent on clearance. I accept payment by cheque or by bank transfer.
I have a full colour brochure available, giving further details, and showing a further 30 examples of my work. Included with the brochure is a full price list and an order form. You can also order online using the Order Form which can be accessed via the Navigation bar. Once I receive your order I will contact you to arrange payment of the deposit.
